Spam Monkey

spam filter?

Is Yahoo's spam filter becoming less robust? Nearly everyday I get an e-mail from a source which I check as spam -- yet, rather than other future e-mail from that source going into my bulk mail box, it shows up in my inbox -- where I check "spam" again -- and so on and so on. I'm now getting more mail which I identify as spam in my regular mail box and by checking "spam", it doesn't seem to make a difference. Also, just recently, I've started getting more of the usually recognizable spam which up until recently, the spam filter had been filtering -- and now it is not. Hence my question, is the spam filter less robust? And if not, what can I do to make sure that when I check "spam", future correspondence from that source remains as "spam?"

  1. nothing, your internets screwed
  2. I totally agree!! I get such OBVIOUS spam, recognizable by even the subject line and/or sender (viagra, other drugs, lottery winner, make-it-bigger, girl getting...'ed etc.). Even as you said, repeat spam from the same source after reporting it. Never happens with my gmail or work accounts. Not sure why! It also seems to me that it is much worse than in the past. Could Yahoo have some reason to have toned down the spam filter, or are the spammers just clever enough to figure out Yahoo's filter (but apparently not others such as gmail and earthlink and my work account...)?? You are SO_OOO_O rigjht! And I just spent a while looking for a way to complain to Yahoo about this with no luck - that is how I found your post! I guess they no longer want customer feedback? That is why I have converted most of my personal email to gmail, although I do like some other things about Yahoo, like "my Yahoo" personal page - probably the only reason I keep my Yahoo account at all! Disgruntled.
